Make a splash this summer! Local charity invites you to ‘Swim for Compton’
Specialist palliative and bereavement support provider, Compton Care, is inviting people to dive into their exciting new fundraising challenge this summer: ‘Swim for Compton’.
Taking place throughout August, the charity is inviting people to take the plunge and choose their own fun swimming challenge and swim at their own pace, in their own way. Whether it’s a few lengths in the local pool, a wild swim in open water, or a splash in the sea with the kids, Swim for Compton is a family-friendly way to stay active and support a vital cause.
Participants can set their own goals – from swimming 40 lengths over four weeks to taking on the ultimate challenge of swimming the equivalent of the 21-mile English Channel (that’s 1,320 lengths!). Whether you’re in a swimsuit, wetsuit, or armbands, every stroke helps raise funds for people living with life limiting conditions in the local community.
The campaign was launched with the support of Compton Care Patron and former Olympic swimming gold medallist, Anita Lonsbrough (Porter) MBE, who said: “Are you ready to dive in and Swim for Compton this summer? Whether you’re a seasoned swimmer, a social ‘swimbler’ or just want an enjoyable way to fundraise with the whole family, Swim for Compton is a great way to have fun and support your local community.”
Entry is free and participants are encouraged to raise £150 to support the charity’s vital services in the community. Everyone who signs up will receive a swim tracker and a Compton Care wristband. Those who raise £100 or more will receive a Compton Care swimming cap to complete their challenge in style.
Community and Events Fundraiser at Compton Care, Cara Bright, added: “We’re really excited to launch Swim for Compton and can’t wait to see the lengths people will go to to support us! However and wherever you swim, we hope you’ll enjoy this summer challenge, so take the plunge and sign up today!”
Every year, Compton Care supports local people living with life limiting conditions through its range of specialist services, including 24-hour care on its Inpatient Unit. It also supports patients out in the community, providing specialist care in the place they call home. Patients’ families also have access to the charity’s services and specialist bereavement support.
