Jayne’s Snowdon Story
Our Trust Fundraiser, Jayne has a very poignant reason to be taking part in our Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) by Sunrise challenge. Here she shares her story…
“On Sunday 2nd June my sister, Lynne and I will be a Hiking Heroes, trekking Snowdon by Sunrise to raise funds for Compton Care and Wolves Foundation.
“I joined Compton Care as a Trust Fundraiser back in December 2022 after having a passion for joining a charity for several years. Following the sad loss of a dear friend who was cared for on the Inpatient Unit at Compton Hall in 2022, Compton seemed the right choice.
“Little did I know that 12 months later our family would need the support and care of the amazing Compton clinical team.
“When our dad, Mick, was suddenly diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, we didn’t realise how little time we had. Without a self-referral to Compton’s services and the wonderful support from the Rapid Response team, Dad would not have passed away peacefully at home with his loving family.
“We have taken on this challenge as Dad loved being outside, especially in the summer and we had some wonderful family holidays in Wales when we were younger. As a lifelong Wolves supporter too, we are proud to be supporting both charities!
“It’s almost five months since Dad lost his short battle with cancer, he didn’t suffer for long and did so with dignity.
“I am sure he will enjoy walking by our side and watching the sunrise together.”
There is still time to support Jayne and Lynne and to sign up!
