My beautiful wife Jackie was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in April 2021. Despite initially winning her battle, the ‘alien’ as she called it fought back until no medical treatment was available. Initially being looked after by New Cross Hospital, I didn’t feel the surroundings were ideal and with the support of Compton palliative team, a place was found at Compton. On what is the most difficult journey a family can make, watching a loved one slowly ebb away, the team, the surrounding and the care provided to both patient and family is amazing. In a sweet and sour dish, Compton provided the sweetness. As a family we will never forget the kindness of Compton staff, from volunteers to catering staff, nurses to doctors and all those behind the scene.
Without your dedication, a lot of patients and families would feel greater pain. We hope the funds raised on behalf of Jackie help Compton to continue to care for others in their time of need.
