“Coming to Compton Care has helped me discover my passion for art,” says patient James Adeogun. “Without ComptonI would never have started sketching or painting, I’m so happy I have this new hobby and I am so grateful to the nurses who helped me discover it.”
James has been visiting our Day Therapies Centre for the past 5 months and after discussing his hobbies and interests with Diversional Therapist Clare Mills, he decided to take up art.
He comments: “I sat down with Clare and as part of my therapy she suggested I try my hand at sketching and painting. I started to sketch pictures of the trees and nature around Compton Hall and I was hooked. I couldn’t put my pad and pencils down.
“I bought some watercolour paints which I carry everywhere with me and a new sketch pad. I see the world in a different light now. The sky isn’t just blue anymore it’s made up of so many different colours, my eyes have really been opened.”
James gifted his latest painting, a picture of 5 trees, to Compton Day Therapies Centre which will be hung up on the wall for patients, staff and volunteers to admire.
James added: “This picture of 5 trees represents the 5-star care that Compton has given me. I am so grateful for the support from Clare and the nurses and volunteers so this is my way of saying thank you.”
