You may remember a story that we shared with you back in February, when we turned one of our inpatient unit bedrooms into a cinema for a patient and his family and friends.
Yesterday we had the pleasure of meeting one of those friends, Adam, when he visited us to make a very special donation.
“Being from Codsall, my family have always supported Compton over the years, and although I’d heard lots about the work they do, I’d never had any experiences with them myself.
“Before Richard was under the care of Compton, we’d been trying to arrange to go to the cinema but I had the flu and so I couldn’t go and see him.”
When we heard of Richard’s love for the cinema and in particular Superhero films we pulled out all the stops to create the Compton Cinema Experience, bringing everything from movie posters and popcorn to surround sound and sweets to him.
“It’s lovely how people come together over something like this, and to see the compassion in strangers. You don’t hear enough about the good in people!
“While Richard was on the inpatient unit, his wife and friends could stay in his room. He was treated with so much respect and kindness. There was a real feeling of love, friendship and comfort.”
Adam met with Julie, a Sister on our inpatient unit, and presented Compton with a brand new projector and screen. We’ll now be able to make movie nights a regular occurrence for those staying with us and their visitors.
Julie added “It was a pleasure to be a part of something so personal to Richard and his family and friends.”
A huge thank you to Adam for his kind donation from all at Compton Care. Your generosity will ensure that those that we care for can continue to do the things that they love with those who mean the most to them.
