Patient Jackie Kennedy with sunflowers as part of Petals of Purple 2018 campaign

Petals of Purple

Hi, I’m Jackie, and I wanted to let you know that Compton Care’s colourful sunflowers are back and set to bloom this summer.

I’ve been receiving support from Compton since January 2017. I visit the Compton Day Therapies Centre every Thursday and honestly, it’s changed my life! The staff at Compton have a way of making you feel like there is nothing wrong with you. Yes I am terminal, but that isn’t how I feel. I wake up in the morning, and I feel like I can take on the day. That’s because of Compton.

Last summer, one of the highlights of my weekly visit to the centre was to see hundreds of sparkling sunflowers spread across the lawns. They were so beautiful to see and were a real talking point.

I’m very excited to let you know that these shimmering sunflowers will be back once more and this time with colourful petals of purple.

From 7th - 28th June the sunflowers were displayed in the grounds of Compton Hall, where we welcomed visitors to come and take a look.

The display may be over but, in return for a suggested donation of £20 – which would fund the equivalent of purchasing materials for an arts and crafts session for someone visiting the Compton Day Therapies Centre – you can take one of these beautiful ornaments home to put in your own garden.
