**FULL** Managing Difficult Conversations in Palliative and End of Life Care

09am - Thursday 6th December 2018, at Compton Care Learning and Development Centre

Please note that this workshop is full and a waiting list is in operation. Please email learning@comptoncare.org.uk if you wish to be added to the waiting list.

Aim:

Communication is important in all health care settings, but is critical for patients with advanced life-threatening illness. Health professionals often lack the communication skills or confidence required to work with this patient group in situations that can involve dealing with challenging
emotions and complex clinical situations.

This one day study day will provide you with an overview of the latest evidence base and equip you with the necessary knowledge to support effective communication for patients and their families facing the challenges associated with palliative and end of life care. You will observe and reflect upon a simulated demonstration of a difficult conversation based on frequently encountered challenges identified by the group. Your knowledge and skills will be enhanced, improving your confidence in end of life care discussions.

Target audience:

Suitable for health and social care professionals working with individuals requiring palliative and end of life care.

Cost:

£40.00 (incl. all refreshments and buffet lunch)

Venue:

Compton Care Learning and Development Centre
The Cedars
39 Compton Road West
Wolverhampton
WV3 9DW
