Lecturer practitioner Andrew Bagnall conducts a study day
Atlas: Traumatic Stress and Childhood Bereavement

4pm - Thursday 7th February 2019, at Compton Care Learning and Development Centre

This twilight workshop is aimed at anyone working with children professionally who is interested in learning about how traumatic stress affects a child’s functioning in the school environment.

Delegates will learn about the impact of trauma on children’s brains and bodies, and how this can manifest in the school environment, along with what school staff can do to help.

Through presentations and discussions, this workshop aims to equip delegates with enough knowledge and skills to enable them to begin to question whether traumatic response is present in a pupil and to begin to explore helpful responses to traumatised children.

Ideally you will have completed our ‘Helping Bereaved Children’ introductory course as this provides a foundation in how loss impacts on childhood development, which is a key factor in effective childhood bereavement management.

Target audience

All those who work in schools, community, health and social care with children

Cost

£20.00 (Free to school staff) To include lunch and refreshments, and certificate of attendance.

Time

16:00 – 18:00

Venue

Compton Learning and Development Centre, The Cedars, 39 Compton Road West, Wolverhampton, WV3 9DW.
