Since the age of five Louis Johnson has taken part in sponsored fun runs, baked cakes, created cards, sold handmade jewellery and manned countless stalls all in aid of Compton.
The 11-year-old has raised over £3,000 over the last seven years in memory of his grandmother, who was cared for both in her own home, and here on our inpatient unit.
Louis comments: “I was just 2-years-old when my Nan was referred to Compton, but she was looked after for a number of years in her own home and would have respite care.
“My Nan stayed on the inpatient unit for a number of weeks before she died. The care she received from the nurses was amazing. I remember going to visit her and they were all so kind to me. They seemed to look after me as well as my Nan which was really special.
“I decided to start fundraising for Compton whilst my Nan was being looked after, and I’ve continued to fundraise ever since. I know first-hand about the work of Compton so I want to be able to help support other people who need their help through fundraising.”
