We are excited to share the news that we will be returning to the heart of Wolverhampton City Centre later this year as we get set open our biggest shopping unit to date.
Retail Plus will encompass the very best of Compton Care charity shops featuring fashion, furniture, electricals, a dedicated kids department and a brand-new range of giftware called ‘Gifts that do good’. The store will also feature a Compton Coffee Cafe on site, which will incorporate artwork from Wolverhampton University students.
Located in the former Wilko unit on St George’s Parade, right next to Wolverhampton Outdoor Markets, the 10,000 square ft unit will also offer us the opportunity to connect with our community like never before. We’ll be using the space to host a series of community groups, events and initiatives for people living or supporting someone with an incurable illness, as well as those affected by bereavement of any kind.
We’re also partnering with a number of key Wolverhampton institutions including the very talented students of the University of Wolverhampton. We’re really excited to be working with them to offer Retail Plus as a platform to showcase their fashion and furniture creations, whilst offering our customers the opportunity to get their hands on some truly unique, one of a kind pieces. Students will also be encouraged to upcycle donations that Compton will then sell in store in a bid to reduce textiles ending up in landfill.
The store will mark our return to the City Centre following the vacation of our Garrick Street Store in March 2019 to make way for the development of the City’s new Learning Quarter. As part of the agreement to leave the unit, Compton was provided a sum of money to compensate for the early closure. We’re now reinvesting some of these funds into our new retail venture with the remainder going directly towards funding patient care costs.
The store will officially open in October, but there’s plenty to do before then.
