Learning & Development online training sessions

Our Learning & Development team are delighted to bring you our brand-new online training sessions. As members of the Black Country Palliative and End of Life Care Group, we are providing a free end of life and palliative care education programme, especially for primary care staff in the Black Country (Dudley, Sandwell, Walsall and Wolverhampton).

The training is commissioned by the Black Country Integrated Care System and each session lasts for 1.5 hours.

We are currently offering the following sessions:

  • Introduction to Symptom Management
  • Introduction to Identification and Management of Dying Patients
  • Introduction to Challenging Conversations Around Life-Limiting Illnesses

Introduction to Symptom Management

This session will give delegates an overview of symptom management including pain, nausea, and breathlessness, as well as common pitfalls and understanding when to refer for specialist advice.

  • 6th September - 5pm - 6:30pm
  • 30th September - 12pm - 1.30pm
  • 19th October - 12pm - 1.30pm
  • 8th November - 12pm - 1.30pm

Introduction to Identification and Management of Dying Patients

Delegates will be provided with an overview about how to recognise deterioration in a patient, in addition to learning about what help and support is available for staff, patients and families, together with symptom control in the dying phase.

  • 4th October - 12pm - 1.30pm
  • 25th October - 5pm - 6.30pm
  • 16th November - 5pm - 6.30pm

Introduction to Challenging Conversations Around Life-Limiting Illnesses

This session serves as an introduction to initiating conversations and addressing different types of discussions. It will look at the top types of conversation around emotions, grief and anger, and will also include advance care planning.

  • 13th October - 5pm - 6.30pm
  • 1st November - 5pm - 6.30pm
  • 25th November - 12pm - 1.30pm
